If you've booked your first bridal appointment, you might be wondering what actually happens when you arrive. Will you know which dresses to try? What if you have no idea what suits you? And will you feel under pressure to make a decision?
At Bridal Gossip in Wadebridge, Cornwall, my aim is to make finding your wedding dress a relaxed, enjoyable experience where you feel comfortable being yourself.
Whether this is your very first appointment or you've already visited other boutiques, you'll have my personal attention throughout.
First, let's get to know each other
We'll start with a relaxed chat about your wedding plans, your ideas and what you're hoping to find. Perhaps you've got a whole collection of inspiration photographs saved on your phone. Perhaps you've fallen in love with a particular designer or silhouette. Or perhaps you're starting with a completely open mind.
All of those are absolutely fine.
I'll ask about your wedding date, venue, budget and any styles you're curious about. I'll also want to know how you'd like to feel in your dress and whether there's anything you're particularly comfortable or uncomfortable wearing.
There's no questionnaire you need to prepare for and no right or wrong answers. It's simply a chance for me to understand what matters to you.
Then comes the fun part – trying on dresses
Once we've had a chat, we'll explore the collection together.
I may suggest styles you hadn't considered, alongside the dresses that first caught your eye. Sometimes the gown you thought you'd love isn't quite right once you put it on. Equally, a dress you might have walked straight past can turn out to be a wonderful surprise.
That's one of the lovely things about wedding dress shopping.
I'll help you understand how different shapes, fabrics and details work, and we'll talk about what feels comfortable as well as what looks beautiful.
Bridal Gossip has sample dresses in sizes 10–32, although not every design is available in every sample size. My aim is to help every bride feel welcome, listened to and confident exploring the collection.
Your wedding plans matter, too
A relaxed beach wedding, a countryside celebration or a more formal occasion might influence the styles you'd like to explore.
We'll think about practical things, too. Can you move comfortably? How does the fabric feel? Can you imagine sitting, walking, dancing and enjoying your wedding day in the dress?
Your venue can provide inspiration, but it doesn't have to dictate your choice. If you love a particular style, that's what matters.
There's time to explore – and no pressure to decide
Your appointment lasts up to 90 minutes, giving us time to look at different options and discover what feels right.
Some brides arrive with a clear idea and find something they love very quickly. Others need more time to work out what they want.
Both experiences are completely normal.
I'll give you honest advice and help you understand your options, but the decision is always yours. You don't need to say yes to a dress simply because you've booked an appointment.
